Beliefs in the Bush Era

I usually don't blog about politics, but I got this list in an email from my friend David F. and it was too good not to post:

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him,
A bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him,
A good guy when Cheney did business with him,
And a bad guy when Bush couldn't find Bin Laden.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

Jesus loves you — and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy.
Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart.

Global warming is junk science, but Creationism should be taught in schools.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's cocaine conviction is none of our business.

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960's is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the 1980's is irrelevant.

And in case I'm too subtle in posting this, yes, I LOATHE GW and the fact that under his regime, yes, you heard me, regime, we lose the civil liberties guaranteed by the most beautiful and wise document ever created: the Constitution.

You have the right to disagree.  I have the right to consider you a moron if you do.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAH! that is sooooo good! The more eloquent, angry (or hey, even not angry) deconstructions of the insanity going on in the world - the better.

That is among the sharpest takes on the hypocracy of the big W that I have seen. I'd add to the W appraoch to military morale (or possibly it's more accurate to assign this to Cheney - whatever they're all in it together):

Praise them in speeches, then award multi-billion dollar no-bid contracts to companies you are involved with who then fail to provide soldiers with basics like armoured vehicles to keep them alive.

I know. Obnoxious, isn't it? Makes me angry.

so far as the condom issue... my tax money is being wasted in several million ways, so i guess condoms aren't really different in that regard. but, i'd rather not be footing the bill for some punk teenagers. They should get their own! :)

This country would sure be easier to run if it were a theocratic dictatorship. Oh, wait...nevermind.
