A Snowy Day

I had planned on going to the movies tonight, but Pennsylvania was covered in a thick blanket of white, and we finally had our first decent snow storm of the winter. Fuzzy flakes, big enough for a fairy to sleep on, floated down gently in the afternoon. Now, at 2:43 in the wee hours of Valentine's Day, Father Winter is showing his gruffer side, and the snow is coming down in small, sharp daggers—tiny, stinging ice-knives—and all the fairies have wisely hidden in warm burrows.

The doggies and I stayed snug with the heater on full blast, eating yummies and watching videos wrapped up in a big comforter. I do feel sorry for the little forest creatures out on a night like this and hope that they, too, have found safe havens from the storm.

I was planning sowing the garden peas, praying for NOT having any snow from now on. But your words sound like a freaking forescast. So? To sow or not to sow.

Too early for the peas - I would not sow them yet.

You know what?
What can one loose? a
packet of seeds. Costs like HUF 400, which is about 2 USDs.
What can one win?
A superb early harvest of fine peas. If it is too cold, the seeds do not emerge and wait until it's okay.
Carrots seeds are even cheaper. And carrots must be sown early as well.
Do you do gardening, too? How about your dogs? This year we have to protect the young plants from or hens....

I do mostly roses and other flowers. I have done tomatoes in the past, but they seem to take over so. I'm thinking of having a proper vegetable patch in whatever my next house is. The dogs aren't a problem, although Wilbur did help himself freely to the baby tomatoes. I'd say carrots you're safe with already... and if you don't mind possibly losing the peas, then go for it! :)
